Well, maybe this isn’t quite what you have in mind when you think of recipes, but nowadays there is a lot of attention being given to diet, ingredients, and “health foods.” People are going broke buying over-priced organic foods, and other exotic foods. And you know that you can’t buy anything today that doesn’t have something in it that’s “bad” for you. Maybe we ought to see if the Bible has anything to say about diet.
First of all, Philippians 4:5 says Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Hebrews 13:9 says Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. 1 Corinthians 8:8 says But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. 1 Corinthians 6:13a says Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Romans 14:17 says For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Matthew 15:11 says Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. Matthew 6:25 says Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 1 Timothy 6:8 says And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
The catholic church and 7th Day Adventists try to restrict what people eat, but we know they are nothing but cults. 1 Timothy 4:3-5 says Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Now, we aren’t to judge others on what they eat or don’t eat: Romans 14:2-3 says For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs. Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
So here’s what I say: Proverbs 30:8 says Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me.
And here is that recipe you were looking for: Exodus 12:39a says And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened.
2 cups wheat flour
1 cup water
Put a pizza stone in the oven and pre-heat to 475°.
Mix together the flour and water. Knead briefly until the dough comes together into a smooth ball. If the dough sticks to your hands or the counter, add flour a little at a time until it is no longer sticky.
Tear off a small chunk of dough and sprinkle the counter with flour. Roll out the dough chunk as thin as you can. Poke it all over with a fork to prevent the dough from puffing up in the oven.
Place two or three of these on the pizza stone and bake 3 to 4 minutes, flipping half way through.
Enjoy! (in moderation, remember)
